Atelier · Our story

Eight years of careful work,
stitched in Kitui.

Our journey

From a single room and one machine.

Kakaones Fashions began in 2017 with one tailor, one machine and one tape measure. Onesmus Muthui set out to do one thing well: dress people of Kitui in garments that genuinely fit, in fabrics worth wearing.

Almost a decade later, that principle hasn't moved. We've added hands and machines, opened the books to women's wear and traditional dress, and built a small atelier in Kitui Town — but every piece still starts with a measurement and a conversation.

Our clients are advocates, executives, brides, grooms, and the families behind them. We dress them for boardrooms, ceremonies, the everyday — and we hold each set of measurements on file for the next time.

Master, since 2017

"I started with one tape measure and a small machine. Eight years later the discipline is the same — every piece earns its place by how it fits, not what it cost."

Onesmus founded Kakaones Fashions to bring the standard of bespoke tailoring he'd trained in to clients across Kitui. His passion sits in the unseen detail — pattern accuracy, stitch density, hand-finished hems — the things you don't notice but never forget.

What we hold to

Three things,
non-negotiable.

01

Quality of make

Patterned, cut and stitched by hand. We don't compress that work — we charge for it because it matters.

02

The wearer first

Every brief begins with the person, not the garment. We dress people for their lives, not the other way around.

03

Heritage with intent

African dress is part of our practice — not as decoration but as design language, treated with the rigour of every other piece.
